Windsong

A Salty Tale by Shane Granger

Young, inexperienced, and full of illusions, finding an abandoned boat on a West African beach leads to wonderful times and hair-raising adventures. a real-life salty yarn to enthral seasoned sailors, dreamers, and armchair adventurers of all ages. Discovering the abandoned hull of a one-hundred-year-old boat on a deserted beach in West Africa leads to one of the best devil may care sea adventures ever.

With only $2.38 and a whole lot of “I WANT A BOAT”, Shane Granger embarked on a dream. Months of hardship and good luck later, his dream became a floating reality. Yet that was only the beginning of this real-life rollicking salty yarn which includes tropical storms and crossing the Atlantic alone on an engineless boat without a rudder.

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

    Scott Murry – March 3, 2019

“Windsong is among the finest and funniest true-life nautical stories I have read to date. Granger is a master storyteller teller Sinbad the Sailor would envy. Well-written and often hilarious there are twists and turns, failures and successes, and triumph at the darkest hour. If you like rollicking sea tales there is much to treasure in Windsong. A page turner you wish would never end.” Scott Murry, Sea Yachting Magazine.

Book review in BOOKSVILLE – May 6, 2019

I’ve written about the harrowing tales in the life of Shane Granger before in The Vega Adventures. In it, he survived a category 5 cyclone (hurricane) and the 2004 tsunami that hit Sumatra and surrounding lands and islands and discovered a mission in life: delivering life-saving medical and educational supplies to the spice islands of Indonesia. Now Granger is using his amazing storytelling skills to tell about some of his other life-changing adventures. His newest book is Windsong.

“I laughed, cried, and more than once felt the hair on the back of my neck stand to attention. A wonderful read. I’d give Windsong 5 stars twice if I could.” Albert Simmes, Books and All.

Paul Strutt (verified owner) – May 14, 2020

A true life tale told with the humour only this author can peel.
Shane reaped the unfolding benefits, losses, laughs and wild adventures that came from tossing “rational good sense“ to the wind and getting on with his dream. Fantastic read and I will be reaching into my electronic bookcase again and again to slip into Windsongs exotic world.
